Drew Gilpin Faust WF ’70, President, Harvard University

Drew Gilpin Faust WF ’70 was named the twenty-eighth president of Harvard in February 2007. President Faust, the first woman to be appointed to that post, was inaugurated in October 2007. A Civil War and American South historian, Dr. Faust’s most recent book, This Republic of Suffering: Death and the American Civil War (Alfred A. Knopf, 2008), was a finalist for both a National Book Award and a Pulitzer Prize.
