Teacher Preparation at Mercer
Mercer University’s Tift College of Education – the largest private preparer of teachers in Georgia – is a place for people and ideas, for learning and change, for study and reflection, a place where what students learn, believe and become is of primary concern. The University’s historic Baptist roots and the heritage of Judeo-Christian principles are reflected in the search for truth, the independence of thought and the diversity of viewpoints that characterize the University experience. The University is committed to offering undergraduate, graduate and professional programs based upon a strong liberal arts foundation.
The Tift College of Education, established in 1995 as the School of Education, was renamed in 2001 to honor the legacy of Tift College and the Tift family. The College is committed to preparing students to serve as teachers and school leaders in the schools of our state, nation and world, and is committed to the pursuit of excellence in every aspect of educator preparation.
