About New Mexico State University

A comprehensive land-grant institution of higher learning, New Mexico State University (NMSU) is dedicated to teaching, research and service at the undergraduate and graduate levels. NMSU is a NASA Space Grant College, a Hispanic-serving institution and is home to the very first Honors College in New Mexico.

School leader preparation at NMSU

New Mexico State University is partnering with the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation and the University of New Mexico on an innovative new master’s degree: an MBA in Educational Leadership. Educators must be nominated by their school districts or charter organizations to be considered for the highly selective Fellowships, in which they will learn a new and strategic approach to leadership.

Course material at NMSU will cover topics including organizational leadership, data analysis, marketing, finance, technology and entrepreneurship – all with an emphasis on how these content areas apply to education. More information

Schools/districts working with NMSU

NMSU will partner with Las Cruces Public Schools and other school districts throughout southern New Mexico to identify strategies that will help improve areas like attendance and performance in those schools. In northern New Mexico, districts will partner with the University of New Mexico on a similarly structured degree program.

Tuition and assistance at NMSU

The Fellowship will provide a $32,000 stipend to cover tuition and fees at the university, as well as a boot camp to help Fellows get up to speed on key prerequisite competencies.
